Dear Bruno,

I also have received the news that you are leaving the 'sand' to face new challenges.

I will never forget the moment when I watched your match against Clemens and Alex at the Center Court in Rio de Janeiro. There was extreme pressure on you at the time, as you were the reigning world champion and it was the penultimate pool match. In the end, Clemens and Alex won, but I have to say that I have never seen Clemens Doppler so 'contrite'. As far as I know, Clemens has also apologized to you at that time and said that he did not want to win at the Olympics.

For me, it was incredibly to see what kind of emotional relationship between all you top athletes exists and that you finally won at the Olympic Games.

Bruno, you were and still are one of the greats of our sport and whenever I needed something from you for promotion purposes, you were always there for me.

I am not taking this for granted and that’s why I want to say once again: THANK YOU VERY MUCH BRUNO!

I am proud to have met Bruno Schmidt and also happy to have gained a friend in you.

I hope to see you again soon!

Yours

Hannes and the beach family
