Clear victory for Poland against Germany

Thursday morning, 9 a.m.: Match start on the side court of the A1 CEV BeachVolley Nations Cup 2022.

The German team Henning/Winter and the Polish team Kantor/Rudol met on the still cool sand. Right at the beginning, Poland struggled to set up the match. Germany took advantage of their opponents' insecurity and took the lead for the time being. Poland fought and closed in on the Germans. It wasn't until the score was 10:10 that the nations were back on level terms. It seemed as if Kantor and Rudol had finally come to terms with each other. The two nations went head-to-head until the score was 17:17. After a strong block on Poland's side, Germany took a timeout at 19:17. Poland stayed in the lead and took the first set.

In the second set, Poland started with the gained confidence and passed Germany point by point. Although Germany was able to pick itself up again, the performance was not enough. Due to a hard diagonal shot by Rudol, the second set also went to Poland, 21:16. 2:0 for Poland after the first match.

The second match was played by Lorenz/Pfretzschner for Germany and Losiak/Bryl for Poland. Poland started with the gained self-confidence from the first game and left Germany behind right away. At 5:1, the Germans took a timeout. Poland continued where they had left off. 6:1 for Poland at the change of ends. Germany then found its sideout. After strong block touches from Lorenz and defense from Pfretzschner, they caught up to a score of 7:4. Poland, however, remained the clear favorite in this match. After a long rally, Poland led 13:8 and it went into the technical timeout. At 20:16, Lorenz fended off the first set point. Poland then took a timeout to regain strength. Bryl managed to get his sideout through - the set was won by Poland 17:21.

In the second set, the Germans did much better. With sideouts on both sides, the score was quickly 2:2. Strength should not be a problem for the players - after a strong hit, the ball goes over the fence of the side court, tie at 7:7. After the technical timeout, the score was 12:10 for Poland. They are still superior to the German team. After mistakes on the part of their opponents, they were able to extend their lead even further: 16:10.

After a long rally, Germany caught up a bit again, but could not prevail. At 20:15 Poland prepared for the first match point. The match ended with a block by Bryl and a score of 21:15.
