Swiss ladies are beaming

The last match of the first day of the A1 CEV BeachVolley Nations Cup was played in front of raving fans.

Starting with Team Vergé-Dépré A./Bentele from Switzerland and Team Van Driel E./ Ypma from the Netherlands, the two teams are on an equal level. The matches promise exciting twists and turns, which the tournament format allows.

Anouk Vergé-Dépré and Menia Bentele are playing together for the first time, having started training only two weeks ago. It will be all the more exciting to see how the two harmonise in this match. At least they are separated by 10 years of age. At the Nations Cup they will collect their first real team experience. With the Dutch, third in the national rankings, the two have not drawn easy opponents. Van Driel and Ypma won the first set with a four-point lead.

The second set began with a thrilling rally in which the Swiss did not let themselves be put off at first. Nevertheless, they had to give the first point of the set to their opponents. 1:0 for the Dutch in the second set. It was a hot affair: one equaliser followed the other before the Swiss were able to turn the game around and take a 14:10 lead. After strong and exciting rallies, the ladies from the Alpine country managed to equalise.

The longer the game, the more exciting the rallies: 10:10, 13:13, 14:14 - there was no end to the series of equalisers. The Swiss finally won 17:15.

Time for the next team and the last match of the first evening of the A1 CEV BeachVolley Nation Cup. In the team of the Dutch women, the name Van Driel appears once again, but this time it is sister Mexime, who together with Emma Piersma wants to challenge the European Champions from Switzerland. On the sand, Hüberli/Brunner for Switzerland and Van Driel M./ Piersma for the Netherlands will face each other.

The second match of the national duel can be summed up in a nutshell: The athletes from Switzerland won the first set 21:17 and the second set 21:11 against the Dutch. Hüberli and Brunner left the court smiling with 42 points for their nation.
